More than 9 million workers are self-employed in the United States. They work as freelancers, independent professionals, and one-man (or woman) companies. They are job creators who chose to create their own job versus waiting around for someone to give them a job.
Despite the size and prowess of this demographic, there's very little out there that addresses the daily trials and tribulations of running a business on your own. Not all of us are trying to become the next big thing, or even want to become the next big thing. Many of us in the 9 million simply want to provide for their families, to maintain a certain lifestyle, and to achieve a work/life balance, or even just meet the demands of our clients and customers
